Democracy School

Democracy is not just learned — it is practised.

Democracy School brought together 35 young people from across Türkiye in Istanbul and Ankara for an intensive programme built around three interconnected labs: Politics Lab, Policy Lab, and Media Lab. Through workshops on coalition-building, policy design, advocacy, and political communication, participants didn’t just study democratic culture — they experienced it firsthand.

The programme continues beyond its initial phase. In September 2026, the cohort will reunite in İzmir/Seferihisar for DemocracyBarCamp, an open, participant-driven forum bringing together the Democracy School cohort alongside an international lineup of political stakeholders, including elected officials, youth wing representatives, and civil society leaders from across Europe.

Implemented by D84 in partnership with Swedish International Liberal Centre (SILC) and Fabel Kommunikation AB. Supported by the Swedish Institute and D66 Internationaal.
