The earthquakes that occurred in Kahramanmaraş, Turkey, in February 2023, cost more than 50 thousand lives and, of course, brought about many discussions. The way the government handled the post-earthquake process, the activities of the opposition in the region, and the way all of this was reflected by the media also politicized the earthquake and the post-earthquake process in Turkey’s polarized political atmosphere.

Our Research and Analysis Unit D84 Intelligence prepared a file called the Guidebook of Government Apology in the Moment of Crisis consisting of 11 articles written by experts and published on Daktilo1984 website, also hosted these experts in 11 Youtube Broadcasts to discuss their articles.

 

 

 

We presented a holistic assessment of Turkey’s place in the world by bringing together various data from rights and freedoms & climate change and environment & economy indexes prepared worldwide in 6 bulletins published Daktilo1984 website. We selected one field from each of these bulletins, which contain indexes in 4-5 different fields, and published an op-ed written by an expert in that field evaluating that index, and evaluated the data in a YouTube broadcast with them.

 

 

The Comparative Ideologies Project by D84 explores the intersections and contrasts between liberalism and various ideological perspectives, aiming to foster a deeper understanding of political thought and public discourse. Originally published as a series of four articles on Daktilo1984 website, the project will be expanded and developed into a comprehensive book.

This initiative aims to:

• Compare Liberalism with Other Ideologies: Providing a nuanced analysis of liberalism alongside other prominent ideologies, such as socialism, conservatism, and populism.
• Encourage Rational Public Debate: Offering accessible yet critical insights to stimulate informed discussions on complex political ideas.
• Engage a Broader Audience: Transforming academic knowledge into engaging content that resonates with the public, students, and policymakers.

The upcoming book will include updated analyses and contributions from experts, expanding the scope of the original series to reach a wider audience. By examining ideological similarities, differences, and their implications on democracy and freedom, this project reflects D84’s mission to enrich public intellectualism and critical thinking in Türkiye and beyond.
